Cong 'road show' a grand success in Haryana

HISAR: Traditionally women in Haryana always get the back seat and remain behind the curtains but during road show of Sonia Gandhi, AICC president, the so called weaker sex appeared stronger than ever, because, she not
only gave preferential treatment to them but shared their woes.

In village Samain on, Hisar -Tohana road, the wife of a labourer could not never dream that Sonia would suddenly land in her house on the roadside and accord a warm hug.

The house wife was taken aback. She was busy in domestic chores, washing clothes, children playing around, when Sonia alighted from her vehicle and reached her. She asked her the difficulties being faced by the family and assured a better life if Congress is voted to power
by the masses.

Sonia''s random meetings and encounters with women, men of different hues, in houses or open fields, on both the sides of the roads , during road show left an indelible mark in the hearts of the onlookers around.

At PWD Rest House , Hisar , these were the women again whom she called first inside to meet her. When eunuch and councillor of Hisar Nagar Parishad Shobha Nehru, attired in tricolour sari with the print impression of "hands" on it, offered rupees 101 as sagun to Sonia saying ," This is a sort of blessing from our community (eunuchs) to you to become Prime Minister of the country, please accept it. "

Sonia told women they exercise great influence in the society , therefore ,they should come forward to save the country. The women folk offered Sonia a Chunri. Though Sonia was about four hours behind schedule but people in Hisar remained lined up on both sides to have her glimpse. The huge response made her more articulate and cheerful.

When the long train of vehicles reached Barwala, 30 kms from Hisar, a mammoth crowd of supporters of Jai Prakash, Congress legislator, raised loud slogans Long live Sonia Gandhi, long live JP. In Narwana, home town of Randeep Surjewala, president , All India Youth Congress , the number of people was astounding, especially women. The huge gathering cheered all leaders of the party including the leader. Bhajan Lal, Bhupendra Singh , Birendar Singh and Selja travelled in one car.

Physically close but miles apart in mind , their supporters at Hisar amply indicated the groupism within and raised slogans of their respective leader only.

Sonia gave green signal to Najma Heptulla to quit the party . She said it may be a good indication for the party. She was talking to mediapersons in the morning before starting the second leg of the road show. She maintained that there is no place for the person who has scant regard for the party discipline or its principles. Indiscipline will not be tolerated. Better it would be if such people leave us. In Haryana the problems are no different from other states.

Power and water shortage, farmers problems, increasing unemployment and the price rise has made the life a hell. I am overwhelmed by the tremendous response to the party road show.I thank those people who waited for us for hours together and supported the party.Women and youth will get adequate representation in the party.

The results of the Loksabha polls would bring out the truth of the feel good factor raised and created by the BJP. We are united and shall win all seats in Haryana.

Jubilant over the road show''s grand success HPCC president Bhajan Lal,while talking to this correspondent said," The mood of the people is a testimony to the Congress wave in the state. Now there is no doubt that we shall win all the ten seats in Haryana." R.K.Dhawan,incharge of party affairs in Haryana, claimed that there is no groupism in the party.

Km.Selja said the people of Haryana are fed up with INLD rule and want to get rid of Chautalas. The tight security measures and the hysteric strictness of SPG created problems for the mediapersons who were asked to wait in a corner and even after five hours wait they were not allowed to meet her and had to return disappointed last night at Hisar rest house.

The Congress party had sent formal invitation for her press conference and allotted duty-passes to the scribes but was of no avail. The leaders carried cell phones with them but the pressmen were not allowed to do so.

The Congress leaders here were seen staying at various dharamshalas because all rest houses were packed with partymen .
